Ruined By Fiction is an independent Indian bookstore creating small batch sprayed-edge special editions and unique collector hardcovers.

Hi, I’m Sanjana, the heart behind Ruined By Fiction, an independent Indian bookstore specializing in sprayed edge special editions.

Ruined By Fiction actually began with a single foiled book I made as a gift for a friend. I shared it online, a few requests followed, and that tiny moment became my first step into custom bookmaking.

In December 2021, I launched a small book subscription box from my bedroom floor (with way too many sticky notes and not enough sleep). From there, Ruined By Fiction kept evolving, first into a bookish merch store, and eventually into what we do best today: beautiful sprayed-edge books created in small batches.

Now, I work with a small (but mighty!) team that helps bring each drop to life - from printing every sprayed edge in-house to packing your books with utmost care. I don’t design all the edges myself, but I work closely with incredible artists from around the world to create editions that feel truly one of a kind. No AI, no shortcuts, just real people creating real art.

This has never been “just a business” for me. I’m not here to make a quick buck haha. I’m here because I genuinely love books, design, stories, and making things that feel meaningful to fellow readers.

We’re proudly independent, not connected to any other sprayed-edge bookstores, and we’re growing slowly and intentionally, one reader and one book at a time.
